Struggling with 10 photos per listing on Etsy?

Recently ETSY added a new function wheres now, with every listing, we can add up to 10 photos, as opposed to the previous 5. Today I want to write about how to fill in all photo slots, as I know it could be somewhat challenging.

It might be difficult to think of 10 different photos per item, especially if the item is a simple piece of jewelry; like a ring, for example. Usually photos are taken from a different angle, with a different background, zoomed in and zoomed out, worn by a model or pictured in action. So what else can we include now?

There are some images we can include that do not have to do with photography. The bad news is that this will take some time to do; but the good news is that once we create these images, we can use them for all the listings! Let's start:

1) Your best reviews
Take a screen shot of your most awesome 5-star reviews and paste them together with power point or photoshop. This will be an excellent marketing scheme. Potential customers who do not bother to read your reviews on your Etsy homepage, will be able to see your best recommendations on your listings.

2) Product Packaging
If you offer a particular packaging, you can include a picture of it. Potential clients will be delighted to see that they will receive the item nicely packaged and it will add more value to your item.

3) Social Media
By placing an image with your social media details you will encourage people to search for you and follow you. This will grow your social media audience substantially.

4) Invite and encourage your clientele to order custom work. Notify them that you accept personalized jobs.

5) Image of your work space or office
Let others see your creative space. It doesn't have to be a professional looking factory. Quite the contrary in fact; people come on Etsy to find work-at-home moms, so it doesn't matter if your office is a corner in the living room, as long as its tidy and shows some of the tools you work with.

6) Work in Progress
Some people are curious as to how things are made, so it is a nice idea to give a small hint of your creation process, without giving up any of your trade secrets.

7) Other items in your shop
Showcase your newest listing, your best seller, your items currently on SALE, or your other Etsy stores if you have one.

8) Your Events
If you participate at markets, place a picture of your setup, and this way you will be also indirectly advertising your other items. You can also include text of your next market for locals to know where to come and see you.

9) Introduce Yourself
Place a nice picture of yourself, and if applicable, with your colleagues or people who help you with your Etsy shop. Make it a happy picture, a funny picture if you will. Don't be afraid to show yourself out of the working ambiance!

Conclusion
For the time being, Etsy has notified us that whether you fill more than 5 photo slots or not, it will not effect your search placement. Note that this may (and probably will) change in the future. However, the main advantage to fill in all 10 slots is that you will have more buyer interaction. And the more time spent visualizing your items, the more the probability of generating more favorites and more sales.
